The Acer Aspire Timeline Series X is the latest generation of thin and light notebooks from Acer developed to provide solid performance and long battery life in a surprisingly lightweight package to offer. At first glance, Acer Aspire 1830T Timeline X is easy to confuse the Acer Aspire 1830T Timeline X one of dozens of Acer netbooks, which have proven in recent years. Appearances are deceptive, however.
Build quality is quite good, despite the small size of the notebook. The combination of relatively thick plastic and matte black brushed aluminum palm rest from the notebook feels solid and virtually no signs of flexibility, the screen is held closed with a good dose of tension hinges screen when closed. Protection of the display is only appropriate that the cover easily bends and distortions appeared on the screen when they are printed on the back. The opening of the screen can be said of the hinges, it is likely that a long time high voltage, which is display in open jump occurs. The body of the Acer Aspire 1830T Timeline X seems to be designed with minimal chassis flex and no apparent cracking of plastics.
The 11.6-inch screen with LED backlight in the Acer Aspire 1830T Timeline X is like many other screens brighter than the 11-inch laptops have seen. The 1366x768 resolution is perfect for browsing, editing photos or movies in high definition 720p. The color and contrast are average thanks to the glossy surface and LED backlighting. We have experienced a real contrast of 206:1 nit in our laboratory and a maximum brightness of 168 (light enough for indoor use and bright enough for outdoor use, while the sun is not shining directly on the unfiltered screen.
The nearly full-size keyboard on the Acer Aspire 1830T Timeline X is comfortable to type, but received mixed reviews from our editors. Acer decided to see a raised chiclet keyboard (like the style of the island) with keys slightly larger than what we have on many netbooks with island-style keyboards use.
The touch screen on the Acer Aspire 1830T Timeline X is a model of the Alps with the sensitivity in the order and do a little annoying delay during fast movements. The biggest problem is the color touchpad surface is not separated by a clear line to the palm rest.
